Jay Slater, a 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire, has been missing since June 17 after he vanished from Tenerife while on holiday.

Friends and family have been searching tirelessly alongside Tenerife's Civil Guard to find him as the search enters its tenth day today.

Search and rescue teams have been scouring the mountainous terrain around Masca - where he was last seen - but they have to battle deep ravines, sharp drops, and cacti.

Slater was staying with friends in Los Cristianos the south of the island, but after meeting two men at a rave on Sunday, June 16, went back to their Airbnb near Masca in the north west - an 11-hour walk from his accommodation.

The last person to see him was the owner of the rental property, who said they saw him walking off into the distance after apparently missing the bus back to Los Cristianos. His friend, Lucy Law, was the last person to hear from him.

Who is Lucy Law?

Lucy Law is a friend of Jay. She was the last person to speak to Jay, and has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Jay's family as they continue their search in Tenerife. Since setting up the GoFundMe page, Lucy has raised over £30,000 for Jay's family.

Lucy Law and Jay attended a rave at Papagayo nightclub on June 16 during the NRG music festival in Tenerife. She recounted on the GoFundMe page that she had left the party earlier than everyone else and was woken up by a call from Jay at 8 am.

Last phone call with Jay

Jay told Lucy he had missed the bus home after staying with two men he met at the club and was faced with a 10-hour walk back to his hotel from their accommodation near Masca village.

He mentioned he was lost, his phone was about to die, and he needed water. Lucy tracked down the two people who saw him an hour before he disappeared. They told her Jay had gone out to buy cigarettes before returning and then left to catch a bus back to his accommodation.

Despite the bus stop being visible from the house, Jay did not make it back. An American woman later offered Lucy a lift to search the mountains where Jay was last seen, but there was no sign of him. Lucy described his disappearance as "weird and suspicious".

By 9 am, a missing persons report was filed, and the search for Jay began.

On June 18, at 2 am, police informed Jay's mum, Debbie Duncan, to fly to Tenerife. Debbie and her son Zak flew from Manchester Airport to help with the search. Debbie received a Snapchat message saying: "Kiss goodbye to your son."

On June 19, at 12:30 pm, police briefly moved the search to the south after a false sighting. Police searched Jay's hotel room, finding nothing unusual. Debbie expressed fears Jay had been taken, saying: "I just want my baby back."

On June 20, cops began day four of the massive search for Jay. On June 21, Lancashire cops offered help, but Tenerife authorities said they had enough resources. The search turned to a 22,000ft ravine in Masca, an area known as "the badlands."

On June 22, the sixth day of the search saw sniffer dogs, cops, mountain rescue, and firefighters combing northern Tenerife. A possible sighting placed Jay near a church with two men at 6 pm on June 17, though unconfirmed by police. Jay's dad Warren and brother Zak visited the search site.

On June 23, the search focused on small outbuildings in de Teno park near where Jay's phone last pinged. Jay's mum Debbie faced online trolls comparing her to Karen Matthews. The GoFundMe surpassed £30,000 in three days.

On June 24, the search for Jay entered its eighth day. Jay's family believed he might have been caught on CCTV ten hours after he was last heard from in Tenerife.
