The search continues for missing Jay Slater in Tenerife

A private investigator looking for missing Brit Jay Slater has said that he has spent today and last night with the teenager's family and is determined to find out what happened to Jay.

In a press conference held in Tenerife this afternoon, Mark Williams-Thomas said Jay's family are 'united' and still live in hope that he will return home.

He told members of the press: "Since I've been here, I've watched the family. I spent yesterday with them and today and the night before. They are very, very united family. They are very supportive and they want me to find out what happened to Jay."

The desperate search efforts for Jay Slater have reached day 10, with Detective Williams-Thomas holding a press conference this afternoon to appeal for any useful information.

There have been unconfirmed sightings of Jay, with locals claiming they noticed him engrossed in Euros matches in a town close to his last known location.

Meanwhile, Detective Williams-Thomas has pledged to establish a "clear timeline" of the critical 24 hours before Jay went missing upon his arrival in Tenerife after offering his assistance to the distressed family.

Known for his work on the Nicola Bulley case, he is confident in resolving Jay's disappearance "in three days". One key aspect of the investigation centres around the last detected activity from Jays mobile phone.

As the relentless search continues, focus has returned to the ravine where his phone was last "pinged".

The hunt for the 19 year old from Oswaldtwistle commenced when he last made contact with friend Lucy Mae Law whilst allegedly attempting to navigate back to his AirBnB from Masca village.

It is reported that Jay had previously separated from his friends following a night of revelry at the NRG Tenerife Weekender festival.

He then reportedly missed a bus back to where he was staying on the south of the island and attempted to make the several-hour-long walk on foot.

His friend Lucy previously revealed that she received a call from Jay on Monday morning, stating that he was lost in the mountainous area and his phone battery was down to just 1%.

Jay's mum Debbie, dad Warren and brother Zak and other family members have flown out to Tenerife to support officers in the search.
