Carole Middleton’s ‘quiet word’ to Prince William on wedding plans
ASK men to name their most awkward conversation and many will probably tell you it was one they had with their girlfriend’s mother.
And so it was with Prince William after protective Carole Middleton collared him one Christmas and told him to make an honest woman of her daughter, Kate.
According to family sources, nervous Carole fretted that the Prince had failed to put a ring on her finger and so had a “quiet word” with the future king back in 2009.
Whatever she said it certainly seemed to do the trick: the couple announced their engagement the following November and wed at Westminster Abbey in 2011, becoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
After the birth of the couple’s first child, Prince George, in July, former air hostess-turned-businesswoman Carole, 58, is Britain’s most famous grandmother.
It’s true what people say: Don’t mess with the mother- in-law.
