Prince Harry wants to come back to the UK but has "three things standing in the way" and one of them is linked to Meghan Markle, says a royal author.

Prince Harry is faced with three obstacles regarding his return to Britain and one of them is linked to Meghan Markle's security, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, left his home country and moved to the US in 2020, after he and his wife stepped down as senior working members of the Royal Family.

Now, a royal author claims that Harry wants to come back and "do more things" in the UK, but there are three things that are "standing in his way" - Prince William and Queen Camilla, as well as funding his lifestyle and security.

Robert Jobson claimed that the prince is in a predicament.

He told the Sun: "The reality is that was the package he put together before Megxit. That's exactly what he wanted to do, private things that he's doing making money, plus the things that he wants to do over here.

"Now, the problem you've got with Harry is a lot of the whispers in the corridor is that they still worry what happens when the money runs out? Well, he made an awful lot of money from his book Spare, so maybe that's a while away yet."

Mr Jobson added: "And also, you still got the two main issues here, Camilla and Prince William, that really have not made up.

"When you've got, if you like, his Praetorian guard of William and Camilla, at odds with Harry it's going to be more difficult for that to happen."

Meanwhile, the author went on to claim that the duke fears his wife would be left "exposed" without adequate security if she were to come back to the UK and that is the reason he is pushing his court case against the Home Office.

Harry brought legal action against the Home Office over the security arrangements for himself and his family when they are in the UK as he contested the February 2020 decision that he should receive a different degree of protection when he returned to the UK after he quit his royal duties.

He lost the case back in February but is set to appeal.

Mr Jobson said: "The fact is, he [Harry] believes that when he brings his wife with him, she will not be afforded the protection that he feels is necessary.

"The reality is, he doesn't believe that is what he's going to get, and that's why he's taking the court case."

In 2022, a legal representative for Prince Harry said: "Prince Harry inherited a security risk at birth, for life.

"He remains sixth in line to the throne, served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan, and in recent years his family has been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats. While his role within the Institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not. Nor has the threat to him and his family."

They added: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the UK. In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home."
