Palace scrambles to fix awkward blunder as they announce Princess Beatrice's baby news

Buckingham Palace was forced to delete the original post announcing Princess Beatrice's second pregnancy as it contained a glaring error.

Princess Beatrice reveals she's pregnant with second child

Buckingham Palace had to correct its announcement of Princess Beatrice's second pregnancy after royal fans were quick to spot an awkward blunder regarding the princess's title.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Palace took to social media to announce the joyous news by sharing two new pictures of Princess Beatrice and her family, with one showing her and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's children, blonde-haired Sienna from behind as she walked along a country lane, holding hands in the middle of her father and big brother Wolfie.

But the photos were accompanied by a statement which contained a glaring spelling error.

The post read: "Her Royal Highess Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna. His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

Royal fans were quick to spot that the announcement read "highess" rather than "highness" and called out the typo on social media.

One user commented: "Do they not read what they wrote before they post?"

Another one added: "Her Royal Highness*."

A third one said: "They spelt “Highess” not “highness”. The palace missed the N."

Buckingham Palace later deleted the original post and reuploaded it with the correct spelling.

The new royal baby, who will not be an HRH, will be born 11th in line to the throne, with Beatrice's younger sister Princess Eugenie moving down to 12th place, and Eugenie's sons August and Ernest Brooksbank becoming 13th and 14th in line.

He or she will also be the 14th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the second to be born since her death in 2022, following the arrival of Ernest last year.

Beatrice's daughter Sienna, who has the second name Elizabeth in honour of the late Queen, was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on September 18 2021.

Her stepson Christopher Woolf, nicknamed Wolfie, was born in 2016 to his then-girlfriend, American architect and designer Dara Huang.
