Want to dine like royalty? Now you can because King Charles is giving people, for the first time, the chance to eat and explore the grounds at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The estate, in Aberdeen, is where the Queen died in 2022 and where King Charles and Camilla enjoy spending their holidays.

And now the public will get the chance to check the estate out for themselves, indulging in a seven-course meal inspired by the seven rooms guests will visit on a tour of the castle. The meal will also be paired with wines and live music.

The "specially-curated" dishes will be part of the first dining experience available at Balmoral which was previously open in the summer, but without the option to eat dinner.

In the summer you had to pay £100 just for a tour, or £150 to include afternoon tea. But this new dining event won't come cheap, topping the former events and costing diners a whopping £250 each.

The estate called it an "intimate and unique experience". It said: "Join us for a special 'Evening at Balmoral' this winter.

"On arrival you will be greeted by a traditional piper before experiencing an exclusive Castle Interior Tour.

"Following the tour you can then enjoy a specially curated seven course fine dining experience, inspired by the seven rooms you visit on the Castle Interior Tour.

"The meal will be complimented with paired wines and live music, served in our recently redesigned restaurant, creating a truly memorable experience."

While it is a tempting offer to eat a lavish meal, paired with great wines and bask in the ambience of live music, there are of course cheaper alternatives to get an inside experience.

Get Your Guide offers a tour From Aberdeen, on a Balmoral Estate & Royal Deeside Tour but this doesn't include food (just pack a sandwich), for a fraction of the price.

You could walk around the grounds for £85, which still isn't cheap, but isn't as hefty as Charles's new side hustle.

Civitatis also offers a Balmoral Castle and Royal Deeside Day Trip for £85.
