Princess Theodora of Greece and Belgium is to marry fiancé Matthew Kumar over the coming weekend after previous plans to wed were halted.

Due to Covid and the tragic death of the royal's father, King Constatine who passed away aged 82 in January 2023, the royal wedding was pushed back and will now take place on Saturday 28 September.

The Princess has plenty of details in the wedding to lawyer Mathew which will be an ode to her background. The wedding, which was initially set for 2020, will be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.

Theodora's wedding dress is also designed by a Greek designer, Celia Kritharioti, which the princess revealed back in 2020 before the pandemic went into full force.

The event is set to be star-studded as Princess Thedora has some serious royal connections – she even counts Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Margrethe of Denmark among her godparents.

While Princess Theodora has those royal connections, it's not likely King Charles and Queen Camilla will attend the nuptials. Instead, the monarchs will be in Scotland on Saturday to visit Parliament to mark its 25th anniversary.

With Princess Kate just completing her preventative cancer treatment, it's improbable that the Prince and Princess of Wales will be attending.

However, Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, may be in attendance as they were among the guests at Theodora's brother Prince Philippos's wedding in 2021.

Princess Theodora and fiancé Matthew have been engaged since the LA-native lawyer popped the question back in November 2018.

The Greek royal shared a sweet image of the couple on her Instagram with the caption:"Words can't express our happiness and excitement. I can't wait to marry this wonderful man. I love you, Matt."

The lawyer's family also put out a statement, saying: "Their Majesties King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie are delighted to announce the engagement of their youngest daughter Theodora to Mr Matthew Kumar.

"Further details about the forthcoming wedding will be provided in due course. Mr Matthew Kumar, 34, was born and raised in Southern California to Sam and Lonnie Kumar. He is a practising attorney in Los Angeles."
