A friend of the King has shut down notions that the monarch would watch or be perturbed by the new Prince Andrew series.

Speaking to the Daily Beast about the release of the Amazon mini-series 'A Very Royal Scandal', which covers the Duke of York's car-crash interview with the BBC, the source said: "People writing films and books about His Majesty and his family is something he is well used to."

Cuttingly, they added: "He won’t have watched it. It’s water off a duck’s back to him."

Whether or not the King has watched the series, Prince Andrew is reported to be pleased that most people haven't.

Speaking to the same outlet, a friend of Prince Andrew's said the disgraced royal was relieved that the programme hasn't made much of an impact.

They said: "It’s a great relief that this new show appears to have sunk without trace. He felt he came out of the first film rather well. It seemed hard to believe there would be any appetite for another go-round and that looks to be the case."

One reason for the series' poor viewing figures may be that it was put out after the Netflix drama 'Scoop!', which was released in April - five months before Amazon's offering.

Relations between the King and his brother are cold, with the monarch reportedly keen to kick the Prince out of the Royal Lodge - a mansion in Windsor.

However, the 64-year-old signed a 75-year lease on the property two decades ago. It doesn't run out until 2078, so the Prince appears to be holding all the cards.

The Daily Beast said that King Charles' representatives did not comment on the remarks, nor did Prince Andrew's solicitors.
