Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are urging people to register to vote in the upcoming US election, sparking criticism from a royal commentator who says "they should not be getting involved with anything to do with the American presidential election".

The 2024 United States elections will be held on November 5, 2024, With Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump battling for the White House.

Talk TV's royal commentator, Rupert Bell, told the platform: "They are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the last I looked there aren't any royal titles in America."

He added: "For Meghan, she probably wants to see herself as a political advocate, but as the Duchess of Sussex she can't expect to have status in the American political system, that's not the way they operate."

Via Harry and Meghan's charity, the Archewell Foundation, the couple released a statement on national voter registration day. It read: "At the Archewell Foundation, we recognise that civic engagement, no matter one’s political party, is at the heart of a more just and equitable world."

Harry and Meghan released their own docu-series as part of their lucrative multi-million-pound deal with Netflix in late 2022.

Although claiming that his family were surprised that he "could land such a beautiful woman", he claims their judgement was clouded by the fact Meghan was an actress in Hollywood.

Prince Harry left baffled by late Queen's 'cryptic' reply when he asked to marry Meghan

Prince Harry has revealed that he didn't expect the late Queen's "cryptic" reply when he asked for permission to marry Meghan Markle.

Harry and Meghan tied the knot in Windsor in May 2018, but the Duke of Sussex had to first ask permission to walk down the aisle from the late Queen Elizabeth II.

As part of tradition, the first six people in the line of succession must ask the reigning monarch for permission to become engaged.

'Real reason' Princess Kate snaps released pictures of George, Charlotte and Louis

The Princess of Wales often snaps the publicly-released pictures of her three children to "help keep paparazzi at a distance", according to an expert.

Praising the royal for doing so, the Telegraph's royal editor Camilla Tominey previously said: "The paparazzi - there's no market anymore because the Duchess comes out with her own family photos and they're far more valuable to the press than images taken at a long lens."

As reported by the Mirror, she added: "That's how The Cambridges (as they were then known) are going to strike the balance, they're going to give in order to receive a degree of privacy back.."
