Princess Anne is giving Princess Charlotte a ‘crash course’ in royal etiquette and teaching her the ways of being a princess in the Royal Family.

In recent months Charlotte, 9, has made more public appearances including at Wimbledon which she attended with her mother Princess Kate where she met guests and other senior figures at the tournament.

And an insider has now suggested that the Princess Royal, 73, has been training Charlotte in royal etiquette – with the young royal even excelling in areas where Kate allegedly struggled when she first joined the Firm.

An insider told Woman magazine: “Anne’s ‘training’, if you will, isn’t just about rank, file, and curtsies either. She’s shown her how to spark conversations, but also how to end one and move on without upsetting anyone.

“That was a tough one for Kate to learn, but Charlotte was born to royalty so is used to the subtle signals and messaging the royals give to stay in control of a situation.”

The insider also added that Prince William and Kate were delighted that Anne has taken Charlotte under her wing. They claimed: “Kate and William are thrilled.

“They couldn’t imagine a better role model than Anne, who is renowned for her work ethic and impregnable support for the King. She doesn’t put a foot wrong whilst still having her opinions not only heard but respected.

“Anne was invaluable to Kate during those early uncertain years, especially as a commoner. She wants Charlotte to have the same candid tough love Anne gave her.”

Reports that Anne is getting hands-on in helping Charlotte come weeks after the Princess Royal made a return to royal duties after she suffered a concussion during an incident with a horse.

As part of her return to royal duties has been her appearance at this year’s Paris Olympics to support Team GB. She was spotted attending the swimming and saw the Adam Peaty take silver in the 100m breaststroke.

Ahead of the Games, Anne also joined Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger in sending off the team to the quadrennial sporting event. She said: “I wish you every bit of success…and also do take the chance to enjoy it.”
