Earlier this year, Prince William was dealt two gut-wrenching, very personal blows when first his father and then his beloved wife were diagnosed with cancer.

The Princess of Wales courageously disclosed that she was undertaking treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer on 22 March, via a video message. She stated the need for recovery time "to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment" and affirmed her strength saying she was "getting stronger every day".

For William, whose mother, Diana, Princess of Wales met with a tragic end in a car crash back in 1997 when she was only 36, the stress can scarcely be imagined. Especially when he's needed to substitute his father at an array of prominent Royal assignments.

The late Queen - once hailed by Sarah, Duchess of York as "the best granny in the world" - to lend advice, and considering his wife and his father are recovering from grave illness, it leads us to question who William could lean on in during these troubling times.

"In the old days it would have been Harry, so it's difficult to know who," suggests Andrew Morton, author of The Queen: 1926-2022, reports OK!.

Mr Morton continued: "Certainly he needs all the support he can get as would any father who's trying to bring up three boisterous kids with a wife who's ill."

In his moving speech post the King's coronation concert at Windsor Castle in 2023, William talked fondly about his grandmother, "I know she's up there, fondly keeping an eye on us."

2024 may be the year when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attempt to mend their ties with the Royal family, suggests one Royal commentator. Kinsey Schofield, speaking on GB News, hinted that the Sussexes' children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, might be their conduit back into the royals' good books.

Kinsey posited: "If Harry did want a way back in he could use the excuse that despite his personal beef with King Charles, he wants his children to have a relationship with their grandfather, it would be the perfect way back wouldn't it? ".

Remembering a past event, she highlighted: "Well don't forget according to reports when Prince Harry received the phone call that he was being evicted from Frogmore Cottage, he said to his father 'Don't you want to see your grandkids anymore? ".

Adding more fuel to the speculation, Kinsey stated: "So you are exactly right if there is a way in, Harry is already thinking about it."

Despite the familial strain, Harry has acted swiftly, taking a couple of trips back to the UK this year - one trip took place in February following confirmation that his father, King Charles, had been diagnosed with cancer. Both visits were undertaken solo, with Meghan, along with their young ones, remaining in the States.
