Outlander fans have been debating which storylines will finally get a satisfying resolution after the second half of season 7 drops this Autumn. It comes after Jamie Fraser actor Sam Heughan promised the season would feature plenty of “tie-ups” when it comes to the Starz show’s time-travelling storylines.

Outlander, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's books of the same name, is a historical fantasy show starring Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser, with its first season airing back in 2014. Scottish actor Sam previously told fans they should prepare for an “extra large” experience when it comes to season 7, the first part of which aired last year.

Asked to sum up season 7 in three words, he said: "It's XL, it's extended, it's massive". He also described it as a "homecoming" or "the return" with a number of well-known faces coming back to our screens.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he also promised plenty of "water cooler moments", confirming some of the mysteries fans have discussed for years will finally be explained. He said: "Definitely, a lot of big stuff happens. There's new characters coming in. And there's obviously a lot of people know that there's returning characters.

"Some of the storylines tie up quite nicely, time travel stuff as well. So we're getting there. And I can't wait to be able to tell the end of the story. I wanted to finish it, I didn't want to just walk away."

Taking to Reddit, one viewer with the handle Own_Progress5989 shared their thoughts on Sam’s insights from the podcast, writing: “I just listened to an interview with Sam and he said there will be a lot of time traveller wrap-ups and character storyline answered in season 7. Which ones will be wrapped up this season?”

Fans then took to the comments section to share their best theories on which storylines Sam could have been talking about.

One wrote: “I do wonder if he means that the people who can travel will be in the time where they will end the series by the end of season 7. That would be interesting given the book progression.”

Another pondered: “I’m guessing he is talking about Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck’s (Graham McTavish) travel to the past where they meet Geillis (Lotte Verbeek)? The actor of Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) confirmed he was going to be in s7, which is different from the books, so I guess we’ll learn more about him too.” (sic)

Replying in a thread, one fan said: “Interesting, so I suppose they will replace the doctor who cured Buck with Master Raymond? Which makes some sense tbh.” (sic)

While one more fan added to the discussion with: “Well, more than likely, we'll see how Bree (Sophie Skelton), Roger, Buck, and the kids move from 1980 to 1739 to 1776(?) back at the Ridge by the end of the series.” (sic)

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
