A royal commentator has severely criticised Prince Andrew over his latest outing when he appeared to be grinning while leading the royals to church.

Prince Andrew has been brutally savaged by a royal commentator, who claimed the disgraced duke "needs to disappear" after his latest "catastrophic" appearance.

The Duke of York has largely been kept away from royal engagements after he stepped down from the Firm in 2019 due to his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

But he made headlines back in February after he was pictured "leading" the royals to a memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece in Windsor.

Andrew was seen grinning on his way to church, which sparked backlash over his appearance.

Now royal commentator Tom Bower described the duke's royal position as "dire" and urged that he should be "invisible" to the public eye.

He told the Sun: "I blame the King for not being more authoritarian for ordering Prince Andrew to stay out of public view

"That memorial service front row was a catastrophic mistake - he pushed himself to the front."

It is understood Andrew was invited to the memorial service as it was a private family event.

He was seen marching into St George's Chapel alongside ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and the rest of the royals behind them, including Princess Anne and Zara and Mike Tindall.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla arrived separately and headed into church as she represented the Firm.

King Charles was unable to attend due to his cancer treatment at the time, as was the Prince of Wales, who pulled out at the last minute due to a "personal matter".
