Prince Harry is said to be prioritising a visit to the UK to catch up with the Royal Family, but it is not a trip Meghan Markle would be up for, according to a source.

The Duke of Sussex may be keen to catch up with King Charles but his wife reportedly has too much else on her plate to consider a return to the country she had such a difficult time making her home.

An insider told Closer magazine: "Harry is very anxious to go home and see his dad, catch up with his friends for his birthday in September and also pay a visit to his aunt, Princess Anne. But that situation hasn’t changed for Meghan.

"She’s respectful that Harry has to go back to his home for practical and emotional reasons, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to go with him."

The Duchess has launched a number of new projects away from the Firm this year, including her new brand American Riviera Orchard, new Netflix shows and a new podcast with Lemonada Media.

The source continued: "She’s [Meghan] got way too much on her plate with the brand and her new cooking show, as well as looking after the kids.

"The last thing she needs is the stress of going back to the UK, where she fears she’d be heckled again in public, which she finds incredibly painful."

An insider previously confirmed to Express.co.uk that the Sussexes have not been officially invited to join the Royal Family at Balmoral in August.

Nevertheless, Harry may be hoping to meet up with his father after the rest of the family has left Scotland, to avoid an awkward confrontation with Prince William.

The insider said: "Harry and Meghan will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family in August.

"The King is keen for it to be a happy family occasion which will see members of the Royal Family come together for just over a week to discuss plans for the future and to unwind.

"The Sussexes will not be part of that meeting but may join the King at a later date when the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family have left."

One factor that could persuade Harry to come over is the King's desire to build a stronger relationship with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The source explained to Express.co.uk: "Charles really does want to build a better relationship with Archie and Lili and spend quality time with them.

"So it's possible that the Sussexes might go alone at the end of the summer just before the King returns to London, but it's highly unlikely given the current tensions.

"The most likely option is for the King to keep in contact with his grandchildren via Skype calls so that he doesn't lose touch with what they're getting up to."
