King Charles has "demonstrated a remarkable improvement" in his interactions with the crowds in recent tours and outings, claims a PR expert, following His Majesty and Queen Camilla's recent tour to the Channel Islands.

Earlier this week, Charles and Camilla completed a two-day whistlestop tour of Jersey and Guernsey, Charles's first visit to the Channel Islands since becoming King.

Riley Gardiner, founder of No Strings Public Relations exclusively told Express.co.uk: "From what I've seen, King Charles has demonstrated a remarkable improvement in his interactions with the crowds recently. In contrast to his reserved demeanour in previous outings, King Charles seems to have become more at ease and approachable during recent public appearances and tours."

He added: "He (or his team) have obviously strategised to establish more personal connections with the people he serves and represents."

The comments come as King Charles granted a royal well-wisher’s unusual request to kiss a king while visiting Guernsey on Tuesday.

The sweet interaction was shared by ITV’s royal editor who revealed on social media platform X the the woman in question was 91-year-old Kathleen.

He joked: "If you can’t do it when you are 91 years old, when can you? Kathleen from Guernsey says she’s never kissed a King before, but now she most definitely has!!"

In the sweet footage, Charles, 76, can be seen walking over to greet a group of well-wishers, before Kathleen asks him for a kiss. He then seems to accept and presents his cheek, and she can be seen saying "Thank you very much."

A royal fan meanwhile, on X, joked that the king "didn’t have much choice."

Commenting on Charles's duties as reigning monarch, Riley added: "As Charles resumes his official duties alongside Camilla, it's clear that he's coming to appreciate and embrace the limelight. In my view, his exchanges with the public and media exhibit a sense of warmth and involvement, suggesting a renewed passion for his role as monarch."

The King and Queen had a packed two days of engagements and spent some time learning about the culture and heritage. The monarch was also given the opportunity to sample a beer appropriately named “Charles”.

Other engagements undertaken saw the couple meet the Golden Guernsey Goat, who had her coat especially shampooed and conditioned for the occasion.

The trip was designed to celebrate the island’s ongoing relationship with the Crown. Charles resumed some of his public responsibilities in spite of his ongoing cancer treatment. Historically, on the Channel Islands, the King is referred to as the Duke of Normandy, a tradition that dates back to when round 1106 William the Conqueror's son, Henry I, took control of the Duchy of Normandy, encompassing the islands.
