Lorraine Kelly has announced she has become a grandparent for the first time after her daughter gave birth.

Lorraine Kelly has shared her joy after her daughter gave birth to her first child. Rosie Kelly-Smith and her fiancé Steve White announced the birth of their daughter, Billie Kelly Smith-White, who was born on August 29.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday (September 1), Rosie posted a sweet photograph of the newborn cutching her mum's finger.

Besides the sweet snap, Rosie confirmed the arrival of her daughter. She penned: "It feels like she’s been here the whole time and we’re not quite sure what the point of anything was before.

"I’d heard how amazing midwives are but they are genuinely walking angels - she’s been welcomed into the world with so much love already."

ITV host Lorraine wasted no time sharing her delight of becoming a grandparent for the first time.

Sharing Rosie's post to her own Instagram, Lorraine, whose married name is Lorraine Smith, proudly wrote: "I have been BURSTING to share this wonderful news with you!

"Baby Billie is an angel and I’m so proud of [Rosie] and [Steve] who will be the best parents.

"I’m delighted to be Granny Smith and can’t wait to go on adventures. #love#joy#happiness#family"

Celeb pals of the legendary TV star wasted no time in sharing their congratulations with Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid writing: "Huge, huge love to you all and especially to tiny precious Baby Billie."

Kate Garraway exclaimed: "Wonderful wonderful news!!!!", while Ranvir Singh said: "Awww the happiest days yet!!! So delighted for you all."
