Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be "worried sick" about being "kicked out" of the United States if Donald Trump becomes the next president.

Trump has previously hinted he would be prepared to revoke Harry's visa should he win the forthcoming election, meaning the Duke of Sussex would have to return to the UK.

It comes after questions have been raised about Harry's visa application, following claims he made about drug use in his explosive memoir, Spare.

A source claimed to New Idea: "The Sussexes are worried sick over the prospect of Donald Trump becoming president again - and making good on his vow to kick Prince Harry out of America.

"They're putting together a contingency plan that would see them flee the country with their children [Archie and Lilibet] if Trump does return to office."

Trump had previously told GB News that 39-year-old Harry would receive "no special privileges" when it comes to his status in the USA.

He pledged to take "appropriate action" should he discover Harry "lied" on his visa application, refusing to rule out deporting the Prince.

Speaking with Nigel Farage, Trump said: "We'll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied they'll have to take appropriate action."

However, the New Idea source has also suggested the idea of a return to the UK is "unthinkable" for Meghan.

Experts had previously predicted Meghan would be unlikely to return to the UK because she "is deeply unpopular here".

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: "The polls simply confirm it and the media detest her.

"So she will stay away for the foreseeable future. With the royal rift as deep as it clearly is she was wise not to stray beyond Heathrow en route to Nigeria, after Harry went to the St Paul’s commemorative service for Invictus."
