Prince Harry continues to seek 'permanent home in UK' as he misses key part of royal life

Prince Harry's homesickness may lead him to buy a home in the UK, as he and Meghan Markle were evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year, it's been claimed.

Prince Harry says it's 'great to be back in the UK'

Prince Harry may be looking for a "permanent base" in the UK as there is one aspect of his old royal life he particularly misses, according to a royal expert.

Harry and Meghan Markle quit the Royal Family and moved to California in 2020, and although they kept their UK home Frogmore Cottage for a few years, they were eventually asked to vacate the property last year.

Royal author Tom Quinn believes the Duke of Sussex especially wants to be reunited with his old group of friends, many of whom he has drifted apart from since he married and moved abroad.

He told The Mirror: "As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles.

"He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don't get on with Meghan. Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he's continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security."

In his memoir, Spare Harry revealed how sad he was at having to leave Frogmore, his and Meghan's Windsor home, when the family relocated to Montecito.

The property had been a gift from Queen Elizabeth II following the couple's wedding in 2018 and they spent £2.4 million on renovations for the five-bedroom family home.

Harry wrote in his memoir of Frogmore: "Once upon a time, this was going to be my forever home. Instead, it had proved to be just another brief stop."

Meanwhile, Prince Harry recently won the right to appeal the decision made by High Court judge Sir Peter Lane that the removal of his royal security was not "unfair" or "irrational".

In February 2020 the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) ruled that as non-working royals his and Meghan's taxpayer-funded security level should be changed, a decision Harry has been fighting against ever since.

US-based royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told TalkTV that this is evidence that the Duke wants to come back to the UK and is struggling to adjust to Californian life.

She told host Kevin O'Sullivan: "To me, it proves my argument that Harry is homesick. He wants to come home. He wouldn't be fighting this so much if he was so blissfully happy in the United States of America."

Ms Schofield criticised the Prince's insistence on an appeal, calling it "the most expensive hissy fit I've experienced in my life. He wants working royal security."

Mr O'Sullivan agreed that it would be a pricey battle, saying: "He's already spent a million pounds on all of this. He's had to pay the Home Office's legal expenses, that was half a million, and his own expenses, that will cost him another half a million."
