Trooping the Colour, also known as the King's Birthday Parade, is coming up, set to take place on Saturday, June 15 and it’s being suggested King Charles may have some special guests to fill out the balcony.

Charles and Camilla will be arriving by carriage, and Prince William will be on horseback, but other than that, it’s not entirely known who wil be on the balcony with the monarch for his big day.

Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14, but the sovereign has a second birthday partry in the summer, so the nation can take part in the celebration, a tradition he inherited from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and during her reign it was the Queen's Birthday Parade.

Royal expert Richard Kay appeared on the recent instalment of Palace Confidential, saying, “We've been led to believe he only wants to showcase working royals, we know what that means.”

That would mean, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and the Duke of Kent, in other words, not Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

He adds: “But, I think they’re going to be a bit short on the glamour metre.”

Mr Kay predicts we may see Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, especially since they were recently invited to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party, hosted by Prince William.

Edward and Sophie were on the balcony last year, which makes Mr Kay think possibly they would bring their two children, Lady Louise Windsor, 20, and James, Earl of Wessex, 16, this year.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the Wales children will be attending the event, since their mother, Princess Kate, is currently on medical leave, but it’s being predicted Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, five, will arrive with their grandparents, King Charles and Queen Camilla, by carriage.

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, was in attendance last year, arriving on horseback, alongside her brother, and Prince Edward and Sophie were also in attendance and joined Charles on the balcony.

Their attendance hasn't officially been announced, but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see all three royals again this year.

Princess Kate will not be attending the rehearsal, but there have been hints that she may be surprising everyone on the balcony, reports Daily Express’s very own Royal Editor Emily Ferguson.
