Prince Harry must do two key things to win over British public, says expert
Palace insiders have weighed on what Prince Harry could do to stand some chance of winning over the British public.
Prince Harry must do two key things before he can win over the British public, according to a royal expert.
The 39-year-old stepped down as a senior working royal at the start of 2020, alongside his wife, Meghan Markle.
Speaking to The Sun, veteran royal correspondent Valentine Low discussed what would need to change for the Duke of Sussex to return to duties.
The expert said: "First of all there is the general principle of do their commercial activities in the United States, do they in any way impinge on royal activities?
"Nothing is going to taint the monarchy, and that was always the late Queen’s fear, that what they did commercially - which could be perfectly valid - would taint the brand or the mystique of the monarchy."
Speaking of the second, the expert said: "The other is personal, Harry and Meghan have said so many things about William, about Camilla, about his own father.
"You would have thought there are huge barriers for him to coming over and doing anything.
"In the long run, can I completely rule it out? No, I don't think I can. There could be a world - but I think it’s so far off, I don’t think you can consider it for the moment."
Harry's popularity, particularly in the UK, appears to have plummeted in recent years - with it diving further since the release of the couple's Netflix docuseries in 2022.
Mr Low's comments come after it was reported that Harry has supposedly spoken of his willingness to temporarily return to duties after King Charles's cancer diagnosis.
Despite this, Palace insiders have said that Harry will not be allowed the "half-in half-out" hybrid.
Earlier this month, despite ongoing tensions, Harry flew to the UK following news of the King's cancer diagnosis.
The Duke then spent just 30 minutes with his father, before residing at an unknown London hotel for the night.
