Kate and William’s anniversary video 'like a life insurance advert’ before Oprah drama
KATE MIDDLETON and Prince William's 10-year wedding anniversary video looked "like a life insurance [advert]" in which the family were carefree before the drama around Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah.

The video, which was filmed back in the autumn, showed the Cambridges looking “happier than ever” before the royal bubble was shattered by the Sussexes’ bombshell interview. One royal expert joked that it looked like an advert for life insurance, while another suggested it looked like an advert for shampoo, Prince William aside. They finally agreed that perhaps it looks most like a British outdoor wear advert.
Pod Save the Queen is hosted by Ann Gripper and features Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers.
Ms Gripper noted it looked very “wholesome” out there in the Norfolk countryside by their Anmer Hall home.
Mr Myers said: “It was like a life insurance video. It is! I loved it, I think it’s great.
“It’s just I kind of expected, like, a voiceover talking about, you know ‘If you want to protect your family in the future, you need to take out this product’.

“I mean, I love it, it’s great. Very nice setting on the beaches in Norfolk, which you’ve never had the pleasure of going ‒ it’s God’s country up there, it’s absolutely glorious.
“And they all seemed to be having a very jolly time, laughing and joking. Nice hat! Like a ranger’s hat.”
Ms Gripper laughed at the suggestion, before offering her own.
She said: “I don't get family insurance… maybe, like, shampoo?
“Prince William aside, there’s a lot of glossy hair going on in that video and autumnal tones.
“I mean, Kate’s hair always looks great. I mean, her hair in the photos Chris Floyd took looked amazing, proper proper glam but she looks lovely in these pictures as well.”
The podcast host was referring to the portraits released yesterday, which were also to mark William and Kate’s 10-year anniversary.
Taken by Chris Floyd, famed for his work during the Britpop era, the photographs of the royal couple were a throwback to their cuddly engagement photos back in 2010.

Mr Myers posited: “Or maybe like, a British outerwear ‒ they’re wearing the outerwear, he’s got the Barbour jacket, there’s the Land Rover in the background, she’s got the woolly jumper on, all looking very glam.”
Ms Gripper seemed to agree with this final analysis.
The fact that this video was taken in the autumn was most clear in little Prince Louis, who has grown up a lot since then.
For his birthday last week, Kate released a picture of the now three-year-old Louis on his first day at nursery.

Many noted that he looked a lot like Kate in the picture and that his hair is darker.
In the video from the autumn, Louis’ hair looked lighter and he looked more like his brother Prince George.
In fact, the royal experts said at times they found it difficult to tell the two boys apart, despite more than four years between their ages.
Ms Gripper said: “I did find it interesting that Louis and George look so much alike and you’re sort of glimpsing them and it's sometimes trying to work out which one is which.”
Mr Myers replied: “I’m glad you said that because I was, and I thought it was just me being silly.
“But Louis’ just grown up so much!”
Ms Gripper said: “I think he looked really different in the birthday picture, his hair looked much darker, he looks a lot less like George, I thought he looked really like Kate in that lovely picture of him riding the bicycle.”
Mr Myers then pointed out that there are at least six or seven months between the video and the birthday photograph.
