Kate Middleton's 'jitters' as she prepared to marry Prince William
KATE MIDDLETON experienced "jitters" on her wedding day to Prince William, leaving the Duchess of Cambridge needing a moment to compose herself before becoming a member of the Royal Family.
Kate Middleton and William: Experts discuss ‘strange’ Easter post
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will this month celebrate their ten-year wedding anniversary. It comes during a time of mourning following the tragic passing of Prince Philip, who died last Friday aged 99. April was meant to be a month filled with celebratory royal events with the Queen's 95th birthday shortly before the anniversary.
The pair married on April 29, 2011 in front of an estimated audience of 26.3 million in person and at home in the UK.
One of the biggest royal weddings in living memory, the day wasn't without its hitches.
Both Kate and William had severe pre-wedding nerves.
This was explored by author Rachel Bletchley in OK! Magazine's release of a special collector’s edition this month marking the anniversary.
Recalling the events of the day step-by-step, she wrote of how William and his brother, Prince Harry, had spent the night before at Clarence House.
The following morning, Ms Bletchley said: "They went out to chat to some of them (the guests) and the groom admitted he was 'terrified of fluffing his lines.'"
After dawn broke, roads between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey were soon jam-packed with crowds standing 30-people deep, only growing bigger as each hour passed.
As William reached Westminster Abbey, Kate was in tow and would soon accompany him.

Ms Bletchley wrote: "But as she arrived at Westminster Abbey, the jitters set in.
"Kate emerged from the car with her head bowed, taking a moment to compose herself.
"It was our first proper glimpse of a dress that would take its place in the history books and fashion archives."
However, from this point the day went seamlessly perfect and the pair made history.

Kate had given some sign of how anxious she was before the wedding.
During a tour of Northern England a few weeks prior, she was asked by a member of the public whether or not she was feeling nervous.
Kate replied: "Yes, of course I am."
Meanwhile, she and William will meet with Harry for the first time after he and Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey for their bombshell interview last month.
Harry travelled alone to the UK last weekend after Meghan was advised not to travel due to her late-stage pregnancy.
The visit is to mark Philip's funeral which takes place on Saturday.
He is currently staying at Nottingham Cottage, his and Meghan's former royal residence.
While Harry won't see through the required quarantine period by Saturday, a rule in the law allows mourners to leave on "compassionate" grounds.
Among other things, he will have to return a negative Covid test result in the three days before travel, and complete a passenger locator form with details of where he will be spending his quarantine.
Tensions and emotions will undoubtedly be high given the nature of the event and the fallout from the Oprah interview.
