Netflix star Ricky Gervais has claimed that his vodka brand has faced yet another ban following its advertising campaign. The 63-year-old comedian last year announced last year that he would be joining as the new co-owner of Ellers Farm Distillery.

The spirit is sold across a number of online retailers and grocery stores including Sainsbury. It is “Hand Made in Great Britain” from a farm, North Yorkshire and sells at £29 for a 70cl bottle.

He took to social media on Wednesday, revealing that an advert had been pulled for the sixth time. Sharing the news on Twitter, formerly known as X, he wrote: Just had another Dutch Barn advert banned from TV. That's about 6 now. One was banned because we said alcohol is a ‘foul tasting liquid that ruins lives’.”

“We even did one about all the others being banned from TV and guess what? Yep. They banned that one too,” he continued. Alongside the caption, Ricky uploaded a picture to his 15 million followers.

Ricky was spotted sitting on a chair donning a black co-ord with matching trainers. Beaming from ear to ear the dramatic image saw him holding the bottle of alcohol and tossing a glass to the camera, which saw the vodka spray everywhere.

The website says that Ricky: “wanted to work with a sustainable spirits business that’s actually doing some good.”

Before adding: “So after diving in feet (and bottle) first, he took the reins on creative leadership whilst making sure everyone knows about Dutch Barn Vodka.”

Leaping to the comments section, fans claimed that it was “terrible” and supported Ricky.

One user penned: “God forbid we have any humour in adverts. By that I mean real humour, not the unfunny woke type that nobody laughs at.”

“That sucks! But it's totally fine for gambling to be advertised on TV every day. Hypocrites,” added a second/

While a third wrote: “That’s terrible mate. How can you be banned when you exercising free speech.”

A fourth suggested: “Do one surrounded by cute puppies. How could they possibly resist?.” While a fifth shared: “have you tried saying nothing and just pointing at the bottle?”

Over the years, the actor has become known for his dry, sometimes dark humour and is now one of the most famous comedians in the world.

Away from the screen, the comedian lives a quiet life between multiple properties in the UK and the US.
