Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst revealed the reason he refuses to watch TV despite a decades-long career on the small screen.

Nicholas Lyndhurst has shared his brutal view on sitcoms today after finding fame on one of the most iconic British series. The Only Fools and Horses star, who is 63, has revealed that he does not give TV shows a second thought.

The actor who found fame on a string of popular BBC series, which also included Good Night Sweetheart, has recently moved across the pond to star in Frasier. Critics have claimed he is the best part of the reboot since playing the role of Alan "Corny" Cornwall, who is Frasier's oldest friend.

In a chat with the Radio Times, he shared that in his spare time he would rather catch up on the latest headlines or political debates. Confessing that he has never binge-watched a programme.

He said: "I actually haven’t watched television for quite a long time.” Before adding: "My living room faces the garden, not the TV, because that feels a bit worky.

"I watch the news and I watch some documentaries, but otherwise I don’t turn on the TV very often. I don’t stream, or binge… I know that’s not the answer you want to hear – but no,” he continued.

30 years since making it on the small screen Nicholas has stepped out of the shadow of his infamous characters which include Rodney Trotter and Garry Sparrow, he has attempted to crack America.

Since 2023 Nicholas shocked fans after swapping his quiet country lifestyle of West Sussex, England for the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles with his wife.

He has amassed winning rave reviews from US viewers and critics for his role in the rebooted 1990s sitcom Frasier.

The popular show is filmed in front of a live audience at the Paramount Studios and has become a huge hit with UK viewers.

It is reported that Nicholas’s Hollywood co-star Kelsey Gammer said he is: “The best actor I’ve ever worked with.”

Paramount Plus has just renewed the show for a second season with it landing on the network last week, The first two episodes of Frasier season two are available to stream with new episodes dropping every Thursday until November 14.

However, he keeps a relatively low profile following the tragic loss of his son, who died back in 2020.

The teenager was found dead at his family home in west London on September 22 and his death was treated as “unexplained but not suspicious”.

It was not until months later it was revealed that Archie died from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of 19 leaving the star and his family devastated.
