Susanna Reid's salary leaves GMB fans saying same thing in Rachel Reeves row
ITV Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid got into a heated debate with Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves over politicians receiving free clothes.
Susanna Reid has been slammed by fans after she got into a heated discussion over the Labour Party’s donation row. The Good Morning Britain host, 53, interviewed the newly appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves and grilled her about the Prime Minister accepting a staggering amount of donations over the past five years.
During the popular ITV breakfast show the presenter sat alongside her co-star Richard Madeley. The duo talked about Kier Starmer accepting lavish gifts from rich donors. Rachel, 45, admitted that she had received thousands of pounds in funding for clothes that were previously declared as generic office support.
Weighing in on the debate a furious Susanna was heard saying: “It smacks of hypocrisy because the Labour Party pointed the finger at the Tories and said we will be different.” Meanwhile, angry viewers hit out at the broadcaster and leapt to social media.
Taking to X formerly known as Twitter, one user shared: 'All MPS receive freebies just as Susanna and Richard will receive freebies because of who they are! It's part of the job! It doesn't bother me! What bothers me is them constantly talking about it and not concentrating on important matters in where this country is heading!'”
While another agreed and said: “Smacks of hypocrisy Susanna asking how much Rachel Reeves earns. If you live in glass houses you shouldn’t throw stones.” A second chimed in and said: “Really Susanna well I want to know what you accept being in the public eye.”
“So let me get this right …. The Chancellor of the country gets £120k …. Susanna gets £1.2 million …. Don’t think she should be conducting interviews on salaries do you ????,” said a fourth.
Another continued and added: Susanna and Richard, are you not now wearing clothes that are not your own? And isn't this because you are in the public eye on a regular basis?”
“Would you be to afford to buy these clothes so that you can present your best self to the nation? Please find something else to talk about.”

“I very much suspect you do despite your million-pound salary'; 'Susanna do you get free clothes as you wear something different every day?,” blasted another user.
In January 2022 it was reported that she signed a shiny new deal with GMB said to be worth £1.1million.
This came after both Susanna and Richard, 68, were finally reunited after the summer break as he took some extra time off.
Although viewers feared that Richard had permanently stepped back from the programme after his recent health woes.
In recent weeks, viewers had grown accustomed to seeing Ed Balls lead the show while Richard took some time away from his on-screen responsibilities.
At the time Kate Garraway informed viewers about Richard's sudden absence, revealing: "Now if you were expecting to see Richard Madeley here, I think Richard Madeley was expecting to be here as well! He's feeling a bit poorly this morning, so we've got lovely Sean, which is fantastic."
