Max Whitlock was such a successful gymnast that he was able to announce his retirement at the age of 31.

Boasting fourteen medals and six titles in Olympic and World championships, he has earnt the status of the most successful gymnast in British history. However, could it be that the retired star is now ready for a new chapter and looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow retired Olympians and Paralympians, like Ellie Simmonds, who now has her own TV career?

He wouldn't be the first sports champ to attempt I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, with Tony Bellew, Matty Lee and Kadeena Cox all having competed in the past. Jill Scott even won the show in 2022.

There's no doubt Max's physical fitness and proven ability when it comes to endurance tests will stand him in good stead for some of the tougher challenges on the show if he decides to compete. Bushtucker Trials shouldn't be a deterrent for him, either, as he's reportedly revealed he's a "huge fan" of the show. Could he make the transition from sofa viewer to fully fledged contestant?

A source told The Sun that Max had already met with bookers and that talks are "ongoing". They explained that "he is a huge fan of the show and has been keen to take part for years" and that ITV have now finally invited him to discuss it for the first time.

The source added: "Max has good looks, charm and is super competitive, which would come in handy when it comes to the Bushtucker trials.

If he "spreads his wings", they believe this could be "the start of an exciting career in TV".

Two years ago, the Independent reported that he was considering having "discussions" about the show, but was unable to take up the commitment at the time due to an intense training regime.

However, he's since announced that this year's Olympic Games would be his final one, freeing up his time for new adventures.

The artistic gymnast didn't secure a medal for his pommel horse routine this year, but already had three gold and three bronze medals under his belt from previous events.

He made his Olympic debut back in 2012 and has also competed in the likes of Tokyo, Japan and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Max also made history in 2016 by becoming the first ever Olympic gold medallist to win for GB in the artistic gymnastics category.
