Vernon Kay received an influx of supportive messages as he shared an update about BBC Radio 2.

The presenter, 50, recently appeared on The One Show to discuss the radio station's new campaign, Let's Move It. The social action campaign is based around fitness and exercise.

The team at Radio 2 are urging the nation to incorporate more movement into their day to day lives in a bid to improve their physical and mental health. Vernon shared more about the new campaign with presenters Roman Kemp and Anita Rani on Friday evening (July19).

He told the duo: "We're not asking people to run a 5k or a 10k, or even a marathon. It's nothing to do with that. It's basically getting the nation moving. Really simply, let's move."

Explaining how people can add more movement into their everyday lives, the TV star said: "So instead of walking down your drive with your wheelie bin, why not jog down your drive with your wheelie bin? Or jog back.

"You get in the car and go on a three minute journey to get some milk, why not walk to the shop? Just do a little bit. Run up the stairs. That's all it is."

Detailing the response the campaign has already had, Vernon continued: "I think the reaction that we've had has been huge and it's something so simple that anyone can do.

"Just get out of breath. Just do a little bit of something every day that'll encourage you because we know that when your physical health is better, your mental health gets a little bit better as well. And it's good for you."
