Piers Morgan's four-word fury at England's Euros performance as celebs speak out
Celebrities had a lot to say about England's Euro 2024 clash with Slovakia on Sunday night which saw the Three Lions narrowly secure a place in the quarter-final.
England fans celebrate Jude Bellingham equaliser
Celebrity football fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their feelings on England's nailbiting clash with Slovakia on Sunday night. Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane pulled England back from behind to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.
This was despite a relatively lacklusture performance for most of the match which comedian Jason Manford described as "shocking". Gareth Southgate's men will now face Switzerland in their next match.
Comedian and presenter Jason Manford exclaimed: "Bloody shocking, but also not shocking at all! #ENGSLO."
Channel 5 newsreader Dan Walker wrote: "Ivan Toney… INSPIRED What a goal from Bellingham. Terrible performance but we are still alive… for now #England #EURO2024."
Piers Morgan was running the gamut of emotions as he watched. "Jeez, this is so crap again. What the hell is wrong with England’s players? Why are they playing so slowly?" he questioned early on in the game.
He continued his negative commentary writing: "This is so bad. Why is Southgate refusing to bring on more subs? Utterly ridiculous.
However, the equaliser was scored he seemed to have mellowed a bit commenting: "BREAKING: The Great Escape. England through to the quarter-finals. How? Why? Who cares! Never doubted you Gareth/lads."
He added: "We were going home. Now it's coming home. This is why I love football. It's never over until it's over."
The Chase star Mark Labbett quipped: "Have we gone 4-4-2? Gareth is channelling his inner Mike Bassett :)."
Meanwhile former football pundit Chris Kamara gleefully penned: "It’s coming home. It's coming home. Never a doubt," accompanied by laughing emojis.

Things didn't look good for England as the game began. Slovakia took the lead in the 25th minute when Ivan Schranz fired low past Jordan Pickford to open the scoring.
However some last minute magic from England ensured their place in the final eight.
An incredible bicycle kick from Jude Bellingham gave the Three Lions a lifeline in the form of 30 minutes of extra time.
This was just the boost they needede and 52 seconds in to the additional minutes Harry Kane ensured the team would stay in the tournament.
