Sharon Osbourne issues apology for cancelling appearance at event

Sharon Osbourne has taken to social media to issue an apology to fans who were hoping to see the family, including patriarch Ozzy at an upcoming festival. They were due to appear at the Mad Monster Party from July 12 to July 14 but have been forced to withdraw due to Ozzy's health.

"Regretfully, the Osbourne family have to cancel our upcoming appearance at the Mad Monster Party in Phoenix because Ozzy is unable to travel at this time," Sharon began in a video posted to all her social media platforms. "However Jack will be there flying the flag for the Osbournes.

"Everybody who bought the Osbourne package will of course get full refunds. We would like to thank you all for your constant support with Ozzy. It means so much to him, you have no idea.

"All I can do is apologise that we won't be there and I'm apologising to the people we've let down from my heart. So, God bless you all. Thank you so much," she concluded as she looked solemnly at the camera.

The Mad Monster party is a convention-type event which will see fans of horror movies, cult TV and rock music descend on the Renaissance Pheonix Glendale Hotel in Phoenix to meet their idols and interact with them during panel discussions and photo ops. Alongside the Osbournes other legendry stars appearing include Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy from Scream, Jason Patric from The Lost Boys and Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson.

The event's website has been updated to reflect the fact that only Jack, who hosts the show Portals To Hell, will be appearing.

Sharon didn't clarify the reason Ozzy was unable to travel but the legendary Black Sabbath star was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2019. He went public with the news the following year.

The condition has caused him to suffer mobility issues, nerve pain, depression and blood clots.

In 2019 he also had a fall at home that aggravated injuries from a near-fatal quad bike crash in 2003.

Last year he announced he was cancelling an upcoming tour and retiring from touring completely following his ongoing physical injuries.

In a lengthy post to fans the star, who is currently appearing in online adverts for mineral water brand Liquid Death, explained the decision was based on a major spinal cord injury he experienced four years ago.

He reassured them that his voice was still fine but said his body was still "physically weak" and he was working with his team to come up with other ways to perform that don't include travelling the globe.

In the past couple of years he has performed rarely, he was one of the acts during the closing ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and also sang at an NFL game in the US in September of that year.
