Superstar chef James Martin admitted that he "never stops working" due to him worrying about his fame and run of success "ending". The TV cook, who hosts Saturday Kitchen Live and often appears on ITV's This Morning, made the candid admission about his career fears while speaking to a fellow chef.

On his Grilling podcast, English celeb chef Simon Rimmer asked James about his extreme dedication to his culinary work. Thinking back to James's days on BBC Good Food Shows, Simon said: "You've never lost that.

"You were always known as being the guy that would like… you'd roll up in your camper van, you'd sleep in your camper van at times, and you'd do the show, and you've never stopped working."

He went on to ask: "Still now, you still don't. Is that because of a love for it, or is it also... are you slightly insecure that you worry about it ending?"

James confessed: "Several things... I worry about it ending for sure, not that I'm pressed about it now as much as I was. But I still care more than I did before, if that makes sense?

"Because when I do This Morning, none of the home economists can understand why I'm in there at five o'clock in the morning. They don't understand."

James also revealed his early arrival time was to prep "every single dish" himself for the former hosts of This Morning, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

James also shared some fascinating anecdotes about his partying nights at the NEC and the ensuing gruelling workdays he committed to in spite of that, displaying his unwavering dedication to his craft.

In another episode of the podcast, James also revealed that he once set fire to the side of his own house in a shocking barbecue catastrophe. The chef shared his shocking tale after being asked if he'd had any barbecue disasters over the years.

He said the calamity was all down to an Italian pizza oven roof, which had mistakenly been built with wood rather than metal, but his dad's mishap was the "best one of all".

James said: "I set my side of my house on fire. That was a good one because... I mean, I love builders and particularly... a certain group of Irish builders, who are fantastic, that decided to build an Italian pizza oven roof.

"Instead of having metal, (they) built it out of wood, which is quite handy. And I think the best one of all was my dad... we're DIY people. My dad was hopeless at DIY."

He added: "Next minute, there was an almighty bang. It was like, honestly, it was (a) huge explosion, and you get bits of lamb chops, pork chops, sausages flying over the top of this house. It was massive.

"There was an air gap in the brickwork, and it basically overheated and exploded - the whole thing - with my dad stood next to it. The image that I've got is just chops going about 20-30 feet in the air. It was hilarious."
