A heartbroken friend of the late Dr. Michael Mosley revealed how he persistently and courageously fought to save a woman's life - but remained totally "modest" about it.

Dr. Michael Mosley's pal Hannah Fry appeared on The One Show this evening to discuss her experiences with him, after the news broke of his tragic death on the Greek island of Symi. The TV fave's body has now been found, along with distressing CCTV footage of him staggering along in the lead-up to the fall that caused his death - and Hannah was heartbroken.

Talking to Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, she told the story of how the "modest" doctor had been completely nonchalant about saving someone's life after a terrifying collapse. "I remember there was this rumour going around that he had saved somebody’s life in the office," she explained.

"I went and approached him about it and was like, 'Tell me, is this true?' and he, sort of, brushed it off, but it was completely true!" As the others looked on, amazed, she explained: "Somebody collapsed in the BBC offices, in the corridors, and he saw them.

"He went over, he performed CPR on them for almost half an hour until the emergency services arrived [and] saved her." Hannah continued that the woman had gone on to have two children after the "extraordinary" rescue attempt was successful.

Marvelling at his modest attitude, she added: "If that was me, as I introduce myself, the first thing I would say is, 'Did you know I saved somebody’s life?' but for Michael, it was just part of it." Meanwhile, over the years, the doctor would continue to bravely undertake difficult challenges in the name of research.

Fiend and colleague of Michael Mosley reveals touching anecdote

He once swallowed tapeworms on television, calmly telling the audience "There they go!" - and then had a camera inserted into his stomach to capture footage of them wriggling around.

Meanwhile, on one occasion, his horrified wife had to talk him out of deliberately infecting himself with pubic lice.

He also had leeches attached to him and experimented with magic mushrooms and snake venom, leading some to believe there was nothing the self-confessed "human guinea pig" wasn't willing to try.

Alex Jones paid her respects to her "dear friend" on the BBC show, revealing that he'd been part of the original line-up of One Show reporters, after joining in 2006.

She sadly continued that the death of the "super generous man" had been "felt by millions of people all around the world who regarded him as their doctor".

"Even when he’d come on here in my early days, when I was a bit shy, you always felt in such safe hands and he was so generous with tips and tricks, anything you wanted to talk about," she exclaimed.

Meanwhile, his wife, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley has also paid tribute to a man she was "incredibly proud" to have married and raised "resilient" children with.

In a statement, she exclaimed: "My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world. It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you."
