Donny Osmond's poignant four-word tour update after leaving home
Donny Osmond has issued an update on his lengthy tour weeks after leaving his wife Debbie at their family home.
Donny Osmond has updated his fans on his Direct From Vegas tour of the United States which began on June 7 and will run until August 17. The 66-year-old performed in Atlanta on Tuesday and admitted the evening had been “overwhelming”.
He wrote in a poignant update on Instagram: "We are having the time of our lives out here on my summer tour. The response has been overwhelming! Last night was so exciting. Thank you, Atlanta!
“Since my last update in Chicago we went to Michigan, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio... and we're only a quarter of the way through the tour.
“Cincinnati, we are on our way to you tonight and then Baltimore, you're next. Check out Donny.com to see if we're coming to a city near you."
Many fans rushed to the comments with supportive messages for the singer.
One replied: “What an amazing show in Atlanta! You are still a fabulous singer and entertainer!” Another echoed: “It’s so great to see that you are having fun and an amazing time. So happy for you.”
While Donny's career is still going strong, he has also enjoyed a strong partnership with his wife Debbie for over 40 years. Despite often steering clear from the spotlight, Debbie recently made an appearance in a group photo shared by Donny outside their "favourite restaurant".
The pair first met in their tender teenage years and solidified their relationship with wedding vows back in 1978.
After tying the knot, the couple welcomed five children into their lives: Donny Jr, Jeremy, Brandon, Chris, and Josh. As the years rolled by, their family grew with the addition of 14 grandchildren.
Debbie has only occasionally been seen in public with her husband but he never misses a chance to praise her, crediting her with keeping the family together while he pursued his entertainment career.
On Valentine's Day 2020, he penned a touching tribute: "Through the years, Debbie has often had to manage on her own while I've toured and performed on the road. That's a very heavy burden to bear, and I'm deeply grateful for a wife who is my teammate in every sense of the word."
Now at the heart of a bustling family, Donny revels in the experience of watching his sons become fathers. In a 2023 interview with People, he expressed: "It's such a wonderful warm feeling to see your child become a parent and to see them raise their own children and to take on the kind of family traditions that Debbie and I have started."
He went on to reflect on the beauty of family life, saying: "It's such a great dynamic to see your children grow up to be parents. They graduate into that echelon of life just finding their own feet, finding their own wings."
