Friends star Lisa Kudrow has admitted she is rewatching old episodes of the hit show – to remember tragic Matthew Perry.

The US actress, known to millions as Phoebe Buffay, had always said she was unable to watch the sitcom as she found it uncomfortable seeing herself on screen.

But now, following the tragic death of Matthew – who played Chandler – last October, Lisa has revealed she is enjoying old episodes. She said: “Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK.

“And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was, and that is what I want to remember about him.”

Lisa and Matthew shot to stardom in Friends alongside Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston.

The actress, 60, added: “You’re just laughing all day long basically, in-between the scenes, because these are funny people.

“And especially someone like Matthew, whose goal was, ‘how many laughs can I get in real life every day?’ We were always laughing so hard, tears were flying out of our faces.”

When asked how Matthew will be remembered, Lisa said: “The world is remembering him the way he wanted to be remembered.”

Friends ended its run in 2004.
