Strictly Come Dancing star Annabel Croft has opened up about a "terrifying" experience after she was "mugged" in London. The former tennis player almost had her phone snatched as she was waiting for a taxi.

Taking to social media, Annabel informed her fans of her horrible ordeal and how those nearby who witnessed the event were "lovely" and "helped" her.

She penned on her Instagram story: "I just wanted to warn people who are on their own in London. I just got mugged waiting for a taxi outside King's Cross St Pancras. The man was riding a bike and wearing a black balaclava.

"He rode straight at me and took my phone clean out of my hands. He rode away with it but luckily dropped my phone so I got it back. Terrifying!

"On a positive note, there are some lovely people out there. Luckily a lovely gentleman witnessed it and came over to help me. Thank you to whoever you are."

Annabel appeared on the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing and made it all the way to the semi-final with Johannes Radebe. Recently, the Strictly professional has spoken out after his loved ones missed out on the opening night of his tour.

The South African was left gutted after his family were banned from entering the United Kingdom. According to The Sun, he emotionally told the audience: "I was hoping that they were going to be here this evening, but [they can't] because of visa issues."

It is also reported that he hopes that his mother Jacobeth and his siblings would be able to attend a later show on his tour, House of JoJo, once their visas are approved.

Johannes has previously mentioned his struggles growing up in South Africa. In his memoir, he detailed how he faced prejudice for choosing to follow his dreams.

Whilst getting emotional on stage, he continued: "Don't even start. But it's fine, she'll make it to Liverpool." His celebrity partner, Annabel Croft, also attended the performance at the London Palladium as a guest and praised him during his opening solo show.

The pair previously bonded over their grief whilst competiting on the BBC dance competition. Annabel was previously married to Mel Coleman for 36 years before he sadly died in May last year.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year.
