Michael Mosley tributes: Jeremy Vine praises 'amazing' man as body identified

Julia Hartley-Brewer and Jeremy Vine has paid devastating tributes online after the body of Michael Mosley was found. The 67-year-old doctor went missing on Wednesday evening while walking along a coastal route on a Greek island.

Julia took to X to pay her respects as it was confirmed that Michael's body had been found by the police. She penned: "This is very sad news. I interviewed Michael Mosley a few times about his Fast800 diet and he was an absolutely lovely man. My condolences to his family."

Meanwhile, Jeremy stated: "What an amazing man #DrMichaelMosley was. Friendly, open, modest, highly intelligent but also a born communicator — so rare. An adult mind, a child's curiosity. He did everything with enthusiasm. We're all going to miss him so much@BBCRadio2."

Mosley and his wife Dr Clare Bailey were understood to have been staying at a villa in Symi’s main harbour before he disappeared.

When he set off on his walk on Wednesday, temperatures rose to a scorching mid-thirties and it should have taken him 25 minutes to complete the kilometre route. It is understood that Michael left his phone at his holiday accommodation.

Many of Julia's followers flooded the comments section with words of condolences. One person replied: "Michael Mosley was one of life's good guys. Sincere condolences to his loved ones. RIP."

A second person commented: "The breaking news on #Mosley is a real tragedy & a great loss. It highlights the risk of walking alone on unfamiliar routes in extreme heat & without perhaps preparing for any misfortune occurring."

Outspoken journalist Piers Morgan also spoke out about the news. He tweeted: "BREAKING: Body found in search for TV doctor Michael Mosley on Greek island of Symi. Very sad development."

Broadcaster Anne Diamond has also paid tribute after Michael was found. Speaking on GB News, she said the discovery was "tragic", adding that it is "very, very sad." Although Dr Mosley has not been formally identified as the body found in Symi, she added: "In a way, thank goodness they have found him. At least the family know."

TV presenter Alice Roberts also wrote how the news was "extremely sad". Meanwhile, politician Tom Watson wrote how Michael Mosley helped "thousands of people get well and healthy". He added: "I'm one of them. He was a hero to me. He will be deeply missed.

ITV presenter and former Strictly star Ranvir Singh said: "Terribly sad news. Thank you for changing the lives of thousands of people - including mine - for the better."

Loose Women star Kaye Adams posted on Instagram: "So sad to hear the news about Dr Michael Moseley. We really have lost one of the good guys. I’ve interviewed him countless times over the years and he was always the same- kind, interesting, interested and warm. Heartfelt condolences to his loved ones."

Friends had sent out pleas on Facebook seeking help in search of the missing doctor, leading to many theories as to what could have happened to him. The leading theory is that Michael could have fallen into the sea.
