March Madness Selection Sunday 2019: Who will be the No 1 seeds?
MARCH MADNESS SELECTION SUNDAY 2019 - Find out who will be the four No 1 seeds heading into the NCAA tournament.
March Madness: How to fill out NCAA tournament bracket
The conference championships are almost done, meaning The Big Dance is almost upon us.
There have already been some shocks this week which could have huge ramifications for the seeding in the 68-team field.
Gonzaga suffered a shock defeat to Saint Mary's in the West Coast Conference tournament final while Virginia were beaten by Florida State in the ACC Conference tournament semi-finals.
Holding a No 1 seed heading into the NCAA tournament historically gives teams a mathematical edge in going on to win the championship.
Villanova were a No 1 seed last year and went on to clinch their second national title in three years.
In total, Since the tournament was expanded to 64 teams in 1985, No 1 seeds have won the national championship 21 times.
And it currently looks like Duke, Virginia, North Carolina and Gonzaga will hold the No 1 seeds on Selection Sunday.
But Tennessee hold a strong chance of entering the conversation on Selection Sunday when they compete in the SEC tournament final against Auburn, with Gonzaga or North Carolina in trouble of dropping to a No 2 seed.
