Strictly: Montell Douglas jokes about marrying dance partner

Strictly Come Dancing dynamo Montell Douglas quipped about tying the knot with her professional dance partner as they geared up to hit the ballroom for their debut show performance.

The much-loved dance contest, Strictly is back with a bang in 2024 following an electrifying launch show.

The opening week is set to showcase celebrity dancers and their professional counterparts strutting their stuff in a bid to climb the leaderboard after executing their first dance routine.

Although the judges will dish out feedback and the contestants will rack up scores, the threat of elimination is on pause during week one.

The stakes will soar in week two, however, when the first contestant is sent packing. Montell, better known as Gladiator Fire, has teamed up with Johannes Radebe.

The twosome took on the Foxtrot to Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby by Dinah Washington, commencing their mission to clinch the Strictly crown.

But before they sashayed across the ballroom floor, presenter Claudia Winkleman gushed over how fabulous the couple looked together, affectionately naming them "Mojo", reports the Mirror.

Adorned in an elegant lace and sheer dress, Montell paired up splendidly with Johannes, who cut a sleek figure in a white shirt, suave cream waistcoat, and complementary tie, all allied with striped trousers.

"Well, we are getting married," Montell jested, inciting laughter from the rest of the Strictly crew and prompting Claudia to announce cheerily: "You're all invited."

Audiences will get to join the fun and cast their votes when the lines open next Saturday (September 28), with the series' inaugural elimination happening on the evening of Sunday, September 29.

Tonight's excitement will commence at 7pm on BBC One, however, there will be no results show this weekend.
