WATCH the moment ‘disgraceful’ Boro star Patrick Bamford SLAPS keeper in goal celebration
MIDDLESBROUGH star Patrick Bamford came in for some scathing criticism on social media following his actions in last night’s win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Patrick Bamford slaps Joe Wildsmith on the head during a goal celebration
Bamford, who has netted just one Championship goal this term, did not win himself any fans for his antics.
One fan tweeted: “Got to say Patrick Bamford is an absolute disgrace. Disgusting behaviour yesterday. Utter p****. Totally abhorrent pig.”
Another added: “A blades fan but the pat on joe wildsmith head by Patrick bamford when he let the first goal in which he maybe could have done better was totally out of order and disrespectful how would he feel if the keeper did that when he misses a pen or an open net.”
Other football fans also tweeted the striker directly.
One said: “really disgusting behaviour yesterday. Complete lack of class.”
“Your celebration was a disgrace, so unprofessional,” another added.
Despite Middlesbrough beating Wednesday and moving up to ninth in the table, boss Garry Monk was sacked after just six months in charge.
"Middlesbrough Football Club have parted company with manager Garry Monk," read a club statement.
"The club would like to thank Garry for all his hard work and dedication, and wish him all the best for the future.
"The club's Academy Manager Craig Liddle will take charge of first team affairs during the interim period while a successor is appointed.
"The club will be making no further statement until an appropriate time."
Born are back in action on Boxing Day against Bolton (3pm).
