Arsenal will be forced back into the transfer market after losing new signing Jurrien Timber to a serious knee problem. The Dutch defender suffered the injury during the 2-1 opening day victory over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and there are now fears he could be set for a significant spell on the sidelines.

Despite his absence, Kieran Tierney is still expected to depart the club before the September 1 transfer deadline as he continues to attract interest from English and European clubs.
Arsenal could also seek to strengthen their forward line and midfield department in the coming weeks providing they make progress on departures.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are working around the clock to make up for lost time in the market following an incredibly underwhelming transfer window that only seems to be getting worse for the Reds.
Although they have brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, they are still looking for a No.6 to replace Fabinho after Chelsea pinched Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia from their clutches.
Chelsea are not expected to halt their spending once they have confirmed the arrival of Lavia and there is every chance Todd Boehly could continue splashing the cash after smashing the £900million mark following his arrival at the club in 2022.

Neymar has said he wants to create history after joining Al-Hilal.
The Brazilian will reportedly earn £129m per year in Saudi Arabia.
He said: "I've achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places.
"I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment.
"I have heard a lot and learned that I am following a long list of Brazilian players who have played in Saudi Arabia over the years, so I believe it is the desired place."
Gary Neville believes Man Utd need to sign Sofyan Amrabat to partner Casemiro.
The former defender said Casemiro was 'torn apart' against Wolves and would be helped by the addition of Amrabat.
"Amrabat coming in, he is a passer of the ball and can sit in there alongside Casemiro. Casemiro got absolutely torn to shreds tonight. United's midfield were non-existent and they were absolutely ripped apart.
"Wolves were absolutely fantastic. United’s midfield was non-existent, it emptied. That would have been a real worry for Ten Hag."
Brighton CEO Paul Barber has explained why Moises Caicedo picked Chelsea over Liverpool.
"Liverpool are a fantastic club - you'd imagine anyone would be running up the M6 for the chance to play at Anfield," Barber told talkSPORT.
"But for whatever reason, Moises and his advisors decided London was their preferred destination.
"In that situation we're in a difficult position; we've negotiated a British record deal deal and spent several days working with Liverpool - who were were professional throughout. At that point, we're out of the loop, it is all between the player and Liverpool.
"When it became clear he isn't going to be joining Liverpool, we have to go into a different mode, we then have to do it all again, which we did. We started working with Chelsea, and we had to protect our own interests which is the player.
"We did that and now Moises goes on to the next step in his career."

In addition to signing Neymar, Al Hilal are back in the mix for Aleksandr Mitrovic.
The Fulham striker has been reintegrated into Marco Silva's squad but still dreams of moving to the Saudi Arabian club where he has been offered huge money.
The Sun say Al Hilal have now made a new bid worth £43m for the Serbian which could put the Cottagers under serious pressure.
Fulham have already rejected two bids earlier in the window which were worth significantly less than that figure.

West Ham are considering a big-money move for Brennan Johnson.
Nottingham Forest have already knocked back a club-record offer worth £35m from Brentford this window as they desperately try to keep hold of the Welshman.
West Ham are mindful that Manchester City are set to try again with a fresh bid for Lucas Paqueta.
Paqueta wants the move, therefore West Ham are beginning to think about who could replace the Brazilian if he does depart for the Etihad.
Football Espana are reporting that Liverpool remain interested in the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Los Blancos do not want to do business with the Reds, however and the player has no interest in leaving Real Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp tried to sign Tchouameni last summer before his move to Spain but now the Frenchman is expected to become a dependable figure in Real Madrid's midfield alongside Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool are desperately shopping fo alternatives after missing out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.
Arsenal are admirers of Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte but there are doubts as to whether Pep Guardiola would sell to a direct rival.
Although City have previously sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, the Gunners are now considered to be stronger than ever and they therefore pose a threat to City's title defence.
Laporte is free to leave City this summer but the Premier League champions are still awaiting offers for the Spaniard.
Joao Cancelo is another player Arsenal have considered but he has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona as his relationship with Guardiola remains frosty.
Munich-based outlet Abendzeitung are reporting that Liverpool have joined Man United in the race for Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard.
Pavard has just one year remaining on his current contract in Germany and can therefore leave the club at the right price.
Liverpool are looking for some defensive cover while United want Pavard, who can also provide competition at right-back, to replace Harry Maguire.
The World Cup winner commented two fire emojis on former international team-mate Raphael Varane's Instagram picture on Monday night after the centre-back headed the winner for United in their 1-0 win over Wolves.
