De Gea gives update on Man Utd future ahead of Sevilla match
Manchester United are reportedly hoping the promise of a testimonial will see David De Gea commit his future to the club. The Spain international is yet to sign a new contract, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season. However, there’s still an expectancy the 32-year-old will put pen to paper and prolong his spell at Old Trafford.
According to The Mirror, United are hoping a testimonial pledge will lead to De Gea extending his contract.
Despite some big errors this season, Erik ten Hag is thought to value the experience, quality and leadership of the Spain international.
United believe they’re better off keeping De Gea, rather than letting him go for free at the end of the season.
But they want the shot-stopper to accept a salary reduction, with the veteran currently earning £375,000-a-week.
Should De Gea stay, then a testimonial match is likely to be held in his honour.
So, having played alongside many legends during his period in Manchester, Express Sport now takes a look at 10 team-mates who could then line up alongside the stalwart one last time…

Midfield: Scholes, Carrick, Rooney
What a midfield trio this is.
Paul Scholes likes to get his boots on for special matches every now and then - meaning he’d likely be up for doing it again.
And though Michael Carrick is currently managing Middlesbrough, he could be tempted to return to Old Trafford as well.
Playing as a No 10, in fitting with today’s modern football, would go Wayne Rooney.
Rooney was a good team-mate to De Gea and, like many names on this list, supporters would surely pay money to see him in the club’s colours once again.

Forwards: Nani, Van Persie, Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo would probably need a great deal of persuading to return to United.
But he was close to De Gea and another homecoming could be his way of healing wounds with his old side.
Nani was a divisive player while performing under Ferguson.
Yet he’s still fondly remembered and the Portugal international appreciates his time at United, where he won four Premier League titles.
Up top would surely go Robin van Persie. Though he peaked at Arsenal, he was utterly sensational as he won the Premier League title alongside De Gea back in 2013.
