Man Utd: Pundit accuses Ed Woodward of lying about transfers
Manchester United are primed to name Richard Arnold as Ed Woodward's replacement, reports say. Woodward announced he'd be leaving his post at Old Trafford back in April, shortly after the European Super League debacle. And another close ally to the Glazers is now set to take over.
According to Sky News, United could announce Arnold as their chief executive in the coming days - or even as early as Monday afternoon.
Woodward has been the club's executive vice-chairman ever since 2012, where he replaced David Gill in the role before taking on greater power after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The current United chief announced he'd be leaving the club in April, mere days after their plan to join a new European Super League collapsed amid huge uproar from all corners of the footballing world.
Woodward will, however, reportedly stay at the club in a consultancy role.
Arnold is now primed to become one of the biggest, most powerful figures within British sport. He'd previously worked at the club as commercial director.

It's been a rough season for United so far, however.
They started the campaign well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, winning two of their opening Premier League fixtures against Leeds and Wolves respectively.
However, after Ronaldo's return, the club struggled for results.
The Glazers axed Solskjaer at the end of last month, less than 24 hours after a heavy 4-1 defeat away at Watford.
Ralf Rangnick has since been named as his interim replacement, with the club to then look at hiring a permanent manager at the end of the campaign.

In his farewell letter to fans, Woodward insisted he was happy with his United legacy despite the club failing to win the Champions League or Premier League during his tenure.
“I am extremely proud to have served United and it has been an honour to work for the world’s greatest football club for the past 16 years,” he said.
“The club is well positioned for the future and it will be difficult to walk away at the end of the year.
“I will treasure the memories from my time at Old Trafford, during a period when we won the Europa League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. I am proud of the regeneration of the club’s culture and our return to the Manchester United way of playing.
“We have invested more than £1bn in the squad during my time here and I am particularly delighted with the progress the players have made under the astute leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching team in the last two years.
“I am sure that with the changes we have made on-field and to the coaching and football staff in recent years this great club will soon be lifting silverware again. It deserves to.”
