Arteta gives Arsenal team news before Everton clash
Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly locked in a battle for the signing of Lille maestro and former prodigy Renato Sanches in order to improve their midfield. However, their plans may be thwarted by Barcelona, who still claim a long-term interest in the Portugal star.
Sanches, 24, burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old for Benfica and earned a call-up to the Portugal team for Euro 2016.
He won the trophy with his nation, claiming the Young Player of the Tournament award alongside the Golden Boy trophy that season.
Yet after a move to Bayern Munich, his career went into decline and he wound up at Lille in a bid to save his career.
But Sanches is now a man revitalised in northern France, and has since garnered interest from Europe's top sides again - with reports suggesting he is likely to move on next month.

The report by AS claims that Sanches is likely to become one of the biggest sales of the winter transfer window, with Arsenal and Tottenham the two clubs most interested in his services.
Immersed in a bid for his signing, both north London clubs are vying for a central midfield star and believe Sanches could be their man.
However, the Portuguese international has recently revealed he was set to sign for Barcelona last summer before injury halted him in his tracks.
And even despite the inductions of Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzales to the first-team picture, the club have not forgotten about him.
