Declan Rice: Manchester United and Chelsea target profiled
Declan Rice should join Manchester City ahead of Manchester United if he leaves West Ham next summer, according to former Hammers winger Trevor Sinclair. Rice has been linked with a move to both Manchester clubs, as well as Chelsea, in recent transfer windows. The England international has starred for club and country, enjoying a fine Euro 2020 campaign in the summer.
United have been the club most strongly linked with a move for Rice.
Red Devils legends such as Roy Keane and Paul Scholes have recently claimed midfield is an area that needs strengthening.
Cristiano Ronaldo chose to rejoin United ahead of City in the summer due to his previous allegiance to the Old Trafford club.
But United have not won any silverware in over four years and have not lifted the Premier League trophy since the retirement of legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

"I look at the team, I look at the players, and I think 'where would I want to go if I was Declan Rice? I wouldn't want to go to Manchester United'.
"There's a bit of glory there, obviously, because they've got 75,000 fans in the stadium, they're supported throughout the world.
"But where have you got a better chance of picking up silverware? I said this when Ronaldo went to Manchester United.
"If there was a choice between the two, there's only one club you're going to if you want to win things.
"I understood why Ronaldo went [to United] and I've said this many times, because he's got a relationship, he's played there, he almost made his name worldwide at Manchester United.

"So you can understand he let his emotions come into play. Declan Rice hasn't got that kind of affiliation with Manchester United.
"I think if Declan Rice had the opportunity, and you have to say Fernandinho's not going to continue to play on, they will be looking for a replacement holding midfielder to compete with Rodri for that holding-midfield role."
Sinclair also believes Rice's chances of winning silverware would be better at West Ham than United.
The Hammers are currently third in the Premier League table, with United struggling in sixth.
Sinclair added: "Well if you look at both teams and both sets of players, he's better off staying at West Ham for me."
