Van Dijk nutmegs Gomez as Liverpool train in Austria
Liverpool have made a swift decision to turn down the chance to sign Ozan Kabak, despite the defender being offered on a cut-price deal. Relegation from the Bundesliga was a disaster for Schalke and leaves them in a perilous financial situation heading into their first second tier season for 30 years.

Included in the loan deal was an £18million option to buy clause, but Liverpool declined to take that up at the close of the season.
And they have once again turned down the chance to sign Kabak, despite Schalke slashing his price tag.
While he was available for £18million earlier this summer, The Athletic report that valuation has been cut to just £8.5m as the German club desperately attempt to raise funds.
Their reasoning for making that decision is the belief that they are well stocked in that department heading into the new campaign.

Kabak was brought in on loan last season in the midst of an injury crisis among the Liverpool defence, with Virigil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all ruled out.
But those three are all set to return to action shortly, with Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams also having emerged as reliable options.
While Liverpool did bring in a new player for their defence, that man was not nor will be Kabak.
Instead of paying out the £18m, the Reds pursued a £35m deal for RB Leipzig star Ibrahima Konate, quickly wrapping up a deal for the Frenchman.
