Transfer update: Klopp 'wants three players' as PSG eye Pogba
Liverpool will look to bolster their squad this summer after a lacklustre Premier League campaign last season. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping Michael Edwards can pull off another summer transfer masterclass.
The Reds have already brought in French defender Ibrahima Konate for £36million from RB Leipzig.
Konate, 22, has been brought in for defensive cover for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, both of whom sustained injuries that effectively put them out for the entirety of last season.
Klopp’s injury woes continued throughout their entire title defence, so this summer some top-class talent must be recruited in order to have a suitable backup for the starting XI.
With Gini Wijnaldum leaving for PSG on a free this summer, Klopp will certainly need a solid replacement for the Dutchman.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has been rumoured to be that man. The Spaniard has spent a decade at Madrid, recouping 43 goals in 337 appearances.

Making 140 appearances for the German side, he’s scored 32 goals, and has since been valued around £50m.
Klopp wants a winning mentality, and very few can boast a resume such as Coman’s, winning 16 trophies in just seven seasons at Bayern.
Another player Edwards and Klopp seem very keen on is Lille’s Renato Sanches.
The 23-year-old Portuguese international was widely tipped to be the next best thing after having a sublime Euros in 2016.

Injuries – unfortunately - set the youngster back.
However, since joining Lille in 2019 he has come on leaps and bounds, and under Klopp’s management could become the superstar he was once destined to become.
He’d likely cost around £35m, yet Arsenal are reportedly interested as well, so the Reds better move quickly.
Donyell Malen has been heavily linked with Liverpool. He scored 27 goals and got 10 assists in 45 appearances for PSV this season.
Signing Malen would provide substantial backup for Roberto Firmino, Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Diogo Jota - who knows - perhaps eventually take a starting spot for himself.
The 22-year-old Netherlands striker also had an impressive Euros and would likely cost around £35m.
Klopp and Edwards have their work cut out this summer that’s for sure, but a string of successful signings could get Liverpool back to competing at the top of their game.
