Manchester United fans protest outside Old Trafford
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has suggested that the Red Devils still need “four or five players” in order to topple Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s troops were crowned Premier League champions on Tuesday evening after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City.
With their near neighbours scooping yet another league title, their fifth in the last ten seasons, it meant that United’s wait for a title extended to eight seasons.
It is now the Red Devils’ longest period without top division glory since before the arrival of Sir Alex Ferguson.
They have already managed to secure a big player ahead of the 2021/22 campaign as Edinson Cavani committed his immediate future to the club by penning a new one-year deal.
Despite that, Keane has suggested that the Red Devils need far more requests if they harbour any aspirations of returning to the peak of English football once more.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Ireland international said: "Well, he's [Cavani] obviously done very well for the club.

Solskjaer made ten changes to his starting line-up but the Red Devils were severely underwhelming as they fell to defeat against the Foxes.
"You need a big squad. We've seen the best squad, Man City, they're competing. You need a big squad,” Keane continued.
"We saw that the other night against Leicester. If you ever wanted proof, that was it. The backup players aren't good enough.
"Ole said after the game they need some players, I mentioned a couple of weeks ago they need one or two, but they need four or five players to compete with Man City."

The Red Devils have predictably been linked with a number of big-money signings ahead of the summer transfer window.
One of the names constantly rumoured to be under consideration at Old Trafford is Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
The England winger scored twice as Dortmund claimed the DFB-Pokal with a 4-1 victory against RB Leipzig on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils suffered consecutive defeats with the 4-2 defeat to Liverpool.
