Man United: Angel Gomes scores incredible goal for U23's
Manchester United star Angel Gomes has been frustrated by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regularly picking Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata, reports say. The 19-year-old could leave Old Trafford as a free agent when the transfer window reopens. And both Chelsea and Barcelona would love to secure the teenager’s signature.
Manchester United staff have raved about Gomes’ potential for a number of years, with the playmaker shining at academy level.
He became the youngest player since the late Duncan Edwards to debut for the club four years ago, with Jose Mourinho giving him his first-team bow while he was just 16.
In the years since Gomes has continued his development and, in 2017, scooped the club’s prestigious Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.
Despite the talent he possesses, though, first-team opportunities have been tricky to come by this season.
Gomes has made just six appearances across all competitions, with just two coming in the Premier League.
Solskjaer and United now face the prospect of the teenage talent jumping ship when the transfer window reopens at the end of the current campaign.

Pereira has frustrated supporters with his inconsistency this season.
And it’s clear that Mata, while he’s enjoyed an upturn in form since Bruno Fernandes’ arrival, is on the wane.
Meanwhile, speaking recently, Gomes opened up on the club legends that inspire him at Old Trafford.
And he named Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Nani as the trio who he looked up to growing up as a supporter.
"When I was growing up at United, Nani had a big influence on me and when I was around eight years old, when I used to go and watch, it was that time when we had a great season and [we had Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Carlos] Tevez," he said.
"All those players inspired me when I was growing up."
On his own game, Gomes added: "In terms of who I model parts of my game on, I’d say [Andres] Iniesta. He was always one of my idols.
"[He was] a big player I watched while growing up.
"[He played] in similar positions as me and I’ve always tried modelling my game on Iniesta."
Gomes is the only first-team United youngster yet to sign a new deal with the likes of Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams all extending their stays at the club.
