Manchester United star Anthony Martial should have improved more than he has at Old Trafford, pundit Danny Mills claims. The Frenchman joined the Red Devils in 2015, however, the forward has struggled to impress consistently. Martial netted in United’s 1-1 draw at Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday night, his 14th goal of the season.
The 24-year-old has insisted he wants to lead the line at United, however, inconsistent performances have seen Martial played out wide.
And Mills has hit out at Martial, revealing he needs to smarten up if he’s to become United’s No 9.
Mills also slammed United for letting Romelu Lukaku leave in the summer, claiming Marcus Rashford’s injury has left them to rely on Martial, who isn’t an out-and-out striker.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s five years now he’s been at Manchester United. He should have improved a little bit more.

Man Utd news: Anthony Martial has been questioned (Image: GETTY)
“He had blistering pace, he can go past people, like a Leroy Sane-type player. I don’t think he’s an out-and-out striker, he’s a wide player.
“Few teams play two up top nowadays. You always expect more from him.
“If I was the United manager or a United fan, that’s what’s the most frustrating thing.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Martial after his goal on Thursday night, insisting he needs support from his team-mates
"It was a good goal today," Solskjaer said.
"He wasn't really in the game before he scored the goal. We didn't make enough runs in behind to create space for Anthony and it was a frustrating night for him until then.
"Good goal and then he gets a chance with his left foot; good strike and good save by [Simon] Mignolet.
"He's got two goals in two games and you've got to be patient as a striker. Sometimes you want to drift wide and get a touch on the ball, but that's not the job for a striker.
"You've got to be patient, you've got to be concentrating when the chance comes and he scored a goal today. Created one or two other chances.
"But, of course, the runs have got to come from around him and maybe not enough."
