Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed before the game that Fernandes' familiarity with the Wolves squad helped him decide to put Fernandes in the team.
“He’s been at the club a few days and he’s already made an impact.
“His demeanor and of course his big smile, it’s a boost for everyone.
“We’ve chased him for a long time and now we’ve got him.

“Now it’s the first game, new league, new team-mates, new stadium, new atmosphere.
“He’s had a few hectic days so we shouldn’t put too much pressure on him.
“He knows so many of the Portuguese players, so might as well just get him on the pitch.”
Fernandes knows the likes of Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio and Diogo Jota from the Portugal national team.
