Man United are going to miss out on Bruno Fernandes says pundit
If Manchester United chief Ed Woodward really wanted Bruno Fernandes, a transfer deal with Sporting Lisbon would have been done by now. And three players could ultimately see the Red Devils call off their chase for the Portugal international.
Manchester United have spent the last few weeks trying to get Fernandes in the door.
After denying interest in the Sporting Lisbon star during the summer transfer window, the Red Devils appear to have changed their mind.
Now, they want him. But, interestingly, it seems not at any price.
Sporting have always been up-front with how much they want. Ideally, the Primeira Liga giants would receive a fee close to £60million.
They need the cash, they need the money. They’re also acutely aware that the best talent Portugal has to offer seldom stay in the country’s top flight.
And Sporting also know that United need reinforcements.

He was at his creative best in the 4-0 drubbing of Norwich City, providing the ammunition for the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood to fire.

And his timely return to form may be why United aren’t chasing the Fernandes deal with everything they’ve got.
Maddison and Grealish may also be behind their thinking.
United admire both players and are likely to conduct transfer raids on Leicester and Aston Villa this summer.

While one arriving is expected, both could also happen given how they’d improve the club’s attacking options.
United may end up landing the duo because of Paul Pogba and Lingard, who both could be shown the door.
And Maddison, Grealish and Mata could the reasons for United’s delay in signing Fernandes.
They proved in the summer with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka that they’ll pay over the odds if it means improving their squad.
But with the club being so stubborn on the Fernandes front, it appears they’re not as sold on him as they’d like you to believe.
